No not basketball nobody watches that anyway. I'm talking about getting the garage cleaned out, getting all my hunting clothes put away, getting the boat and stuff ready to go. Just general maintenance before fishing season hits in April, from what I've seen lake Michigan's open, there's no icebergs there. I have until April to get everything lined up and I don't have a whole lot to get the boat ready for which is a good thing. I did go to Mississippi hunting this week but didn't call in any yotes. I called in a couple Eagles, some Hawks and a confused a squirrel, but other than that just had a great day walking around. I did see a lot of turkeys.
All my outdoor adventures are put down here for you to see. My goal is to make you smile or maybe even learn something. If you don't, well it's a good read anyway. Wish me luck..... This blog is dedicated to my Auntie Nae and my Mom. They have contributed to this in their own way. Thank you for all you have done and still do. And a special Thanks to my Dad, he started me on my path by having time to take me hunting and fishing. Thank you.

still on the hunt....
Monday was suppose to be the coolest day of the week at a brisk 45 degrees. Once again I made the trek South about an hour and made over a dozen sets, only to walk away without seeing a coyote. I did call in some crows, woodpeckers and some hawks, still no coyotes. The coolest part of the day was right near sunset. I was making it in to my last stand site and walked up on 4 does and 3 small to decent bucks feeding in a field. I let them feed out of the field without bumping them. It was cool to see them and get to a shooting distance without them knowing I was there.
Next week will be the longer run, about 2 hours to my favorite public spot.
Oh yeah by the way....

REALLY?????
This is a picture I just took out my front mud door. See that white stuff??? I've been waiting for that for weeks, unfortunately it won't last. According to the weather forecast next week is going to be in the mid 40's to mid 50's, not really good coyote calling weather.
That being said you should get used to posts like this one for the next couple weeks......
I went to a public spot on Monday which looked to be the coolest day of the week. I made over a dozen sets and called in.... Eagles, Hawks, Woodpeckers and one upset bunny. I hunted sunup to sundown and had 0 luck.😡
I can't wait for next week.😁
I went to dump my recycling on Tuesday and started talking to the attendant there. In the conversation I found out he has a yote problem and a muskrat problem. He also has 80 acres plant-able so it has goose possiblilites and he mentioned he's seen turkeys within the week.....
I can't do anything 'bout the rats but I went out and called it yesterday.
No luck this week, but I'll be back.

Seasons winding down
Well I'm sure your curious about last Thursday....
Jake and I set up on a temporary pond in a bean field.
Notice how Jake isn't in the water? I'm laying in ankle deep water..... He thought that was funny. |
I say temporary because it only appears after alot of rain or a good melt. Anyway after we had both there were plenty of geese there so we threw out a spread and waited.... and waited.... had a 4 pack work great 👍. We were standing up talking...👎. So we waited some more, we were noticing flocks of migrators going back North then this happened.
This is Jake's second goose with me, don't think he's shot any outside of that. 😖😢 |
Yesterday I got
two,
still have a rough time with a selfie |
next up is coyote season starting next week I guess I got about
three weeks of that. I should be able to hopefully get about 6 hunts
in if I go twice a week, so we'll give that
a try
I ended my season with a total of 38 geese and 23 ducks on the waterfowl year.
