3rd times the charm

With no where else to go I sucked it up, called weed, packed 8 decoys and went out to this field for the 3rd time in 2 weeks. Usually I will only shoot a field 2 or 3 times in a year, but the geese have been thick on this field and the end of season is only 2 days away. So with no worries of burning the field I hit it on Tues. (that's when the video was taken) and again on Thurs. for the 4th time this year.

Wed. I pass shot a body of water that usually holds many birds. I didn't even get a shot.
Thurs. I pass in the morning and went back to this field in the afternoon. The whole day was filled with missed opportunities.

So as it ends up I didn't top my last years total, only tied it at 29 for the year. Oh well there's always next year

Pass shoot

I went back to the same field I hunted on Tues. in the hopes of getting some good pass shooting. I did bring 4 decoys with me to kinda bring the geese over me. I never thought that I could bring in a flock of 30 geese to just 4 decoys with little to no calling. That's exactly what happened, I had a flock circle and drop in, well within shooting range. I was soo surprised that I whiffed on my first shot but connected on the next two.
So I spent a couple hours sitting in my folding chair 20 yards from my 4 decoys and took home 2 geese.
Not too bad
Sarah thinks I could sell some decoys....... I don't see that happening.

Late season goose

Yesterday was the first day that I was able to get out for late season goose, and it turned out pretty good. I only had one problem, the geese kept flaring. Since we have some snow here I had my snow cover on my blind. I have been using this cover for the past couple years. The thing about this snow cover is that some days it works great and some days the geese are just able to pick it out. So after getting flock after flock into around 60 yards or so and flaring off, I made the painful decision to get another snow cover.
That's the bad news the good news is Cabela's has their blinds and covers on sale..... score!
Anyway, I connected on a long shot and sailed the goose out 300 yards before he dropped. I walked out to get him and had a four pak pass right over the top of me, I culled out the slowest goose. Then my last one was a lost young bird just looking for some friends and thought his BFF was in my spread..... he came home with me. So that makes three for the day and that left me 2 shy of limit, but any day hunting is a good day.
Anyone need a good used snow cover????
