Week #5

Well as the weeks wear on I get less and less done. This week was pretty much the same except for when I got home Sunday after work. This is what I found...
I had been watching across the street the daughter had a couple get togethers Fri and Sat. When I got out of the car to inspect the damage the girls mom met me at the "post". She told me that one of the guys had hit my mailbox and put the post in to replace it, and that he left a note for me to call him when I got home. Well, I found the note and gave him a call, he said he was really sorry and would pay for the damage. I let him know that it was alright and that I appreciated the note and the post and that I would take care of the rest. So now I have the mailbox out that I bought when I moved in, I knew I wanted to replace the old one I just needed a good reason.
I also did a little work on the boat. I put on 2 new rod holders, it seems the one's I was using in the corners of the boat were not a big hit with one of the guys I have taken out. Reggie. So, in an effort to make it the best trolling rig I can I put 2 rod holders on the corners one on each side. I hope it makes it easier, if not I'll try again with something else.
The board is just behind it so you can see the rod holder. You can see just to the left of it is the bases for my new downriggers. Hopefully the riggers and rod holders will be an improvement or I'll be replacing or relocating them next year.
Well, I should be fishing next week, but my buddy hasn't gotten my fender brackets welded yet. If I have to wait another week so be it... but I really would love to get out next week.

Week #4

Sorry folks just another snoozer this week, nothing great to report. I went around looking for some ground to shoot a turkey in the face on with no luck. I still have a couple more weeks and a half dozen more people to ask... keep your fingers crossed for me. Hopefully Jake will get my fender brackets done this week so I can install and paint them next week. Take care more next week.

Week #2

Monday was a pretty lazy day, started off with no plans and ended up changing the configuration of my Lake Erie rods. I got rid of the shot of lead core I had on them. Last year I had decided to go to all inline trolling weights because I felt the lead core deadened the line enough that it was hard to see if the lure was fouled with weeds or a small fish. So I pulled off the lead core and flipped the braid around to get another couple years out of it. Tuesday I got the decoy trailer cleared out and loaded with all the goose decoys that were in the garage. I also cleared out enough in the garage to get the wheeler in it. Wednesday I cleaned out the garage (including some sweeping) enough that I can now walk through it without cursing. Today I got ready for my work week by making sammiches, doing the dishes, and I got the grill out for some salmon and brats for this weeks supper.
Next week will be all about getting my new downrigger bases on the boat, and mounting my trolling motor. The only thing I will have to do after that is to get my fenders back on the trailer. For some reason there's a weld that keeps breaking. I had a buddy weld them 2 years ago and they need done again before I run into fender problems.
The welds look the same on rest of the them so I took them off last fall. I'll bring them to Jake to fix next week, and after I get them back and on the trailer I'll be ready to do some fishing.

My first week off...

Wow, it's amazing how long 4 days are when you've got no real plans. Monday I went into town for my once every 6 years or so physical and as long as I was there I made an appointment for my truck for it's yearly physical. So after I was done with my appointment I headed over for it's appointment, after all was said and done I was 700$ down. I think my doctor studied at the wrong college. I even gave my truck a much needed bath, actually 3... that's how many times I had to go through to get him clean.
Tuesday and Wednesday I had a bunch of little things to get done some sewing, cleaning, got the trailer washed, man just sitting here trying to remember what all I did.... I know it doesn't seem like that much but there's quite a bit I'm forgetting about. So since I did soooo much over those 2 days I treated myself and pulled out all my new lures and switched hooks, then put them all away in my tackle bags.
Purty colors right?
Today I got ready for this week and even got into the garage for some cleaning up and can crushing, which I've been avoiding all week.
Next week I should be able to get my wheeler out of the trailer and into the garage, and all my decoys into the trailer and park the trailer on the pad. I'm also hoping to get something done on the boat... be it downrigger bases or trolling motor.

As far as the poll I took last week I only got a couple of responses but it looks like for now the blog will remain on the blog.
Turns out nobody likes Facebook.
I will keep watching for other votes but for right now the consensus is no change.
