With the snow comes the geese.... and a very memorable hunt.

We finally got some weather around the area and with that is a the concentration of geese to food and water. On Tuesday Jake and I went to my river spot and we were able to put a couple geese apiece down. We had a couple flocks that made their way back during the day, but mostly once we bumped them in the early morning they just didn't come back. I think the temps in the 50's played a large role in the geese vanishing for the day. I was disappointed with the turn out.... well, lack there of. Since we stuck it out until the very end of shooting time I didn't manage to get a pic. I wish we could've has some more action but that's why they call it hunting I guess.

For the second hunt of the week.
I got invited on a hunt from Jake with some of the guys he grew up with. Chad is  pro-staffer for Big Sean's Calls, and since Sean moved back to Southern Michigan he came along also. Chad had a field that he had been watching build for 4 days when the weather hit. We got in around 7:30ish and started setting up the silos and blinds, even as were setting up the geese started coming out to feed.
The shoot only took around an hour to get our limit of 20 birds. Once we hit limit we left everything in the field and headed to town for breakfast. That allowed the birds to get in there and feed so they could shoot it again later in the week. After we finished breakfast we headed back to the field to pick up the gear and birds.
It was a really cool hunt, with alot of birds in the air.
Myself, James, Jake, Chad and Big Sean
I was stoked to get the invite to this hunt. I'll have to return the favor and have the guys down for a hunt in Fort Wayne... if I get some birds.
