Quick bonus material

 I did forget to give the info on the bird- 25#'s, 3\4" spurs and a 9 1\2" beard he was a pretty heavy 2 year old but he was just a 2 year old.

The other thing is since I will be in Nebraska next week there won't be a blog entry... I know, I know, you'll miss me but hopefully the next week should have a ton of pics and some great stories.

And this brings my Indiana turkey season to an end

 Well the title says it all, my turkey season in Indiana has ended. My turkey season in Nebraska will begin on Tuesday, I can take 2 birds on the property I'll be hunting (landowners rules) and one more off his property is possible. 

Anyway back to Indiana turkey season, I ended up hunting at my magical 5 acre property on Monday. I tried to get in on a no show draw at Mongo but with only 1 spot open and at least 20 dudes trying to get it the odds weren't that good. After I found out I didn't get it I drove over to my private property and hunted until 10am. When I was done there I headed home to mow the lawn..... fun.

Tuesday I headed out to Jake's to try to get on a bird, he had one that needed dead so the property poacher in the area didn't get him.

So, that happened and I got the bird that had outsmarted 5 or 6 other hunts.

When I got up to the bird I was really surprised that it was only a 2 year old. I thought for sure that a bird that lasted that long would've been older. Oh well, it was a really good hunt.

Turkey opener

 Well this will be a short and sweet post. Wednesday I was set up in the snow for the turkey opener, yes I said in the snow. It was the first time I wore snow camo turkey hunting and I gotta say if I had shot a bird it would have been super special. Instead it was just pretty cool, I had birds gobbling but nothing wanted to come in. Thursday was a better weather day it was cold but the sun was out. I had a bird behind me that didn't get the script. He gobbled most of the morning but just wouldn't turn and walk to me. Both days the birds I was on had hens and it's practically impossible to tear Tom's away from their hens. 

Oh well, I still have until Wednesday next week, unless I can get my gear together for Nebraska before then.

Turkey seasons getting closer

 One week away and turkey season starts not sure if I'll getting anymore fishing in until after my turkey hunt in Nebraska...

Wait? What? anymore???? that's right I made it over to the big pond this week. A buddy of mine and I went to Lake Michigan for some early salmon action. The water was a bit bumpy and the fish were a little out of their minds but we managed to boat 7. With 2 double headers, 1 of which shut the show down for at least 30 minutes while we untangled everything. I said the fish were a little out of their minds because for all the years I've fished over there the only rule was: you can fish any color you want as long as it is orange. This year we only got one bite on orange the rest came on lime green, blue and silver, and fire tiger. Not that were complaining it just took a little adjustment to start putting fish in the net.

Ron's a guy I met this year pheasant hunting, he love's Erie and hasn't been to LM in a very long time. We fished hard all day to get these guys, hopefully I can get back up.
 

First week of fishing

 Yep got the shakeout cruise under my belt this week. I hit a local lake to make sure all the motors were working and to my surprise they were, even the trailer lights were working. My neighbor is remodeling his back deck and let me get some dirt to cover the roots of my Maple in the front yard. So as long as I was doing that I went out and got a rose to replace the one that died last year. He also gave me some spring flowers for me to plant. Today Jake and I made an hour drive for Turkey rounds and while we were there he bought a duck boat. Anyway hoping to get started doing some serious fishing next week. Oh yeah, I didn't even get a follow fishing this week. Hopefully all my unused luck will ooze into next week. 😜
