Turkey season opened today

Today was the first day of Turkey season it was cold, wet, and even a little snowy. Unfortunately I spent the day putting in an over the range microwave. I didn't get drawn to hunt this year, but did go up for the no-show draw. There were 23 people hoping to fill 9 spots.... I didn't get drawn to hunt. So I made the hour drive home and made myself useful by putting up the microwave.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to hunt, yes I'm going to try again.

Did some casting

Went up to Burns Waterway (the ditch) and fished the outlet that I caught fish at 2 weeks ago. This week not so much, I fished a couple hours without a bump. The rains had really muddied the water up, and the fish didn't care for the muddy water.
So I went over to The Port of Indiana to some cleaner water. As it turns out I should have started here, after hours of casting I finally hooked up a brown. He took a orange and yellow flicker shad, that's after I washed almost all of my other lures.

Time to get the boat out.

First fishing outing of the year

Headed up to Lake Michigan to do some casting from shore. I haven't seen any icebergs, but the waves were pretty big. I fished most of the day without a bump, but when they decided to hit I caught 2 within a couple minutes of each other.
I did lose one at the rocks, trying to get my net.
I lost a second after I netted him, removed the hook, and tried to get him on the stringer. He gave one last life saving kick, right out of my hands and down into the rocks and into the water.
Crap....

I should've put on a hat

 Oh well I got 2 browns and made a trip to Cabela's, turned out to be a pretty good day.
